Cloth Wipe Solutions

Once a cloth diapering family moves over to using cloth wipes, the next step is choosing a wipe solution. There are so many options out there to choose from! You can make your own or purchase a solution from a store. I used and then reviewed three wipe solution options.

The first solution is one that I created for sensitive skin. It is 1 3/4 cups warm water. I then add 2 tablespoons of fast-absorbing baby oil and 2 tablespoons of Equate brand Cetaphil. I mix it all up and then pour it over my cloth wipes.

The second solution I tried was Monkey Doodlez Wipe Cubes. To use this solution, you add one cube to 2 cups warm water and dissolve. There is lavender and tea tree essential oil in this solution.

The third solution I tried was Honey Bun Drops by Chubby Cherubs, LLC. The cubes are made from milk and honey with chamomile. You add one or two drops per 1 cup of boiling water and then dissolve.

I like to fold my wipes accordion style and then place in a wipes container. This allows them to pop up. I pour the wipe solution over the bottom third, then the middle third, and then over the top. This allows the solution to get evenly distributed on the wipes. I like to use a glass measuring cup and a spatula for mixxing the wipes solution.

My favorite solution is the one that I created, but that is mostly because it works so well for my little boys who have very sensitive skin. I like that there isn't really a scent and that it leaves their skin smelling clean afterwards.

My second choice is the Honey Bun Drops. I really like the smell of these wipes. My boys did not break out while using this solution, so that was a bonus.

My last choice was the Monkey Doodlez Wipe Cubes. These wipes did not break out my boys, but I did not like the smell of the cubes. I also did not feel like they got their bums all the way clean because after getting wiped up, they would still smell.

At the end of the day, I would not buy the Monkey Doodlez Wipe Cubes again. I do like the the Honey Bun Drops a lot and I would buy them again. I think I will stick to the solution I created for now.

You can purchase the Equate Brand of Cetaphil and the fast absorbing baby oil at any walmart.

A diaper review for pay?!

So, I recently had a chance to do a diaper review for cash points on a cloth diapering website. I am very excited! Once it is published, I will link to it here so you cam go and read it! Though I do have plenty of cloth diapers, I am always willing and ready to buy and try new ones. Maybe someday, this blog will take off and I will be able to have diapers sent to me for free to review! I do believe that my life will have reached a whole new blissful level at that point! I admit proudly that I am a cloth diaper addict!

The Great Cloth Diaper Change

This April 23rd, get ready to help make a new Guinness World Record! Come change your baby from a disposable diaper or a cloth diaper, into a cloth diaper! It is going to be fun and also raise awareness about cloth diapers and how they really are better for our children and the environment.

This link takes you to the Utah website of a local cloth diapering chapter where you can pre-register to attend on April 23rd.

http://www.clothdiaperutah.org/

For my non-Utah friends, here is a link to the website where you can search for a location near you!

http://greatclothdiaperchange.com/

For my friends who do not cloth diaper and would like to participate, I am more than willing to bring some extra cloth diapers with me so you can come also!!! Out of state friends: Ask around when you find a location, I am sure a local cloth diapering mom would be willing to loan you a cloth diaper! Also, I know some of the locations will have extra on hand just for you, so it is important to pre-register and let them know you will need one!

Happy cloth diapering everyone!

A New Beginning

I have been cloth diapering for almost 11 years now. I started out with Gerber prefolds (ewww!), pull on plastic pants (double ewww!), and pins (not so eww since I sometimes still use them!). I have come a LONG way since those beginning days. I have learned a lot along the way, but I have discovered that I have a lot more to learn! Nowadays, I have a lot of people asking me about cloth diapering and I have even converted some people over to cloth diapering.

I decided it was time to start a blog dedicated to cloth diapering, since my family blog half the time is about cloth diapers!

My intent with this blog is to post diaper reviews (since I have a big enough stash for two homes and two kids!), reviews on accessories such as diaper sprayers, cloth diapering information such as wash/dry routines, and to post about the general addiction that is cloth diapering!

You can look forward to some cute pictures, some funny stories, and some experiences I have had, both good and bad.
